Tea Party Live – Cold Brew, Ice Tea y Mocktail

English Version

On April 15, we had a “live” on Instagram with our special guest the creator Tea Quiero @TeaQuierovzla brand, Alba Molina.

Tea is a versatile drink that adapts to every occasion, it can be served hot or cold, it does not even need large or expensive devices to prepare it, today we teach you how to prepare delicious cold versions and others using the goodness that nature
gives us.

To continue we think it is important to differentiate between Cold Tea, Mocktail, Cold Brew and Sunny Tea.
When we refer to a cold tea is the process by which we infuse the loose leaves of Camellia sinensis in double portions, i.e. 2 grams per 100 ml following the times and temperatures suggested for each type of tea, after we wait until it is reached
room temperature and we use the drink to make any preparation, a classic preparation of iced tea or cold tea is to have black tea, lemon juice and ice.

On the other hand, we have the Cold Brew that is obtained by incorporating the loose leaves of tea in water at room temperature to be taken to the refrigerator with extended contact time from 6 to 12 hours, the ratio used between tea and water is even smaller than that used to prepare it hot, if you want to make 1 liter of cold brew you should only add 8 grams of tea to 1 liter of water, cover it and keep it in the refrigerator, using this technique we get a sweeter drink, without tannins, lighter but without losing body and its essential properties.

We also present a technique that does not require artifacts or luxurious paraphernalia to prepare tea, we only need a sunny day and a few hours sitting in the Sun, this is how we get the Sunny Tea, we place 1 grams of tea per 100 ml of water at room temperature in a covered glass container, expose it to the sun for a few hours (2-3 hours) and we get an ideal drink as if we had prepared it in a teapot. There are no excuses for not drinking tea!

Finally we want to refer to the Mocktails or Cocktails without alcohol, a trend that became popular since the 80’s and that represents a very healthy and delicious option to which the Tea Tenders have made incredible mixtures using Tea strands as a base.

For this occasion, we would like to present 2 Mocktails for you to enjoy at home during this hot season.

The first one is Arnold Palmer named after its creator, an American golf legend who along with his wife, Winnie designed this delicious drink which became popular in the 60's and is a classic cocktail, below we share the recipe:

200 ml of chilled @Caracasteaco English Breakfast Black Tea (70% of the drink)
3 Oz sweetened lemonade (30% of the drink)
Ice

Preparation:
Add the ice cubes, incorporate the lemonade and then the Black Tea previously
infused at 95 degrees Temperature, 2 grs per 100 ml; to have the appearance of a
Pousse-Café or layered drink, you can help yourself with a teaspoon when serving.

The second recipe is our Aranciata Verde with a high content of antioxidants that
helps to recover electrolytes.

Recipe:
Green Strawberry Green Tea from @Caracasteaco.
Natural Orange Juice
Turmeric syrup to sweeten in case the oranges aren't that sweet
Ice cubes

Preparation:
First you need to infuse the green tea for 2 minutes at 80 degrees (the ratio of 2
grams of tea per 100 ml of water) then remove the strands and reserve, if you have
some time you can infuse the tea overnight, leave the strands in the water, cover it
and keep it in the refrigerator to use them next day, in this case the ratio is 1 gr per
100 ml.

When you are ready to make the drink, use a shaker, add the ice, the green tea without the strands, the orange juice, the syrup, shake for 10 seconds and serve. When the tea is shaken, a substance called saponin is activated, this produces a
foam and give that effect to the drink. The proportion for 1 and a half liters of drink is 6 Tea Spoon of 2 grams in 1 liter of water at 80 degrees temperature for 2 minutes, filter and mix with half a liter of orange juice sweetened with the syrup.
